Tips on Selecting Education Agencies

First ensure you are familiar with how Chinese student recruitment agencies and educational consultancies work

1. Agents help students determine a study abroad destination location i.e. countries, cities, if a specific destination or institution hasn’t been selected yet.

2. Choose the best fit university, college, institution, school, or educational organization.

3. Prepare application for academic degree or tuition programs i.e. short term program; such as a winter/summer camp, subject-specific training classes, or other for-credit or non-credit program, overseas.

4. Guide them through the application process. Agents recruit students on the merit of their reputation, and having the right partners make all the difference in finding the best options for their students.

First: Understanding your needs and the market
a. What types of Chinese students are you looking to recruit? 
b. What does the Chinese market already know about your school?  

Second: Finding the right match with agents

Effective collaboration (non-partnership) still requires a period of trial and growth, especially if current brand recognition in China is low.

FAQ’s about BOSSA Agencies

Q: I’ve emailed agencies but get no response, why is that?

A: Emailing agencies is not always most effective. Agencies receive on average 100+ email solicitations weekly and for some, daily.

Q: How to get an Individual Agent’s direct contact information from an agency?

A: Individual Agents don’t allow their direct contact information to be given out publicly, unsolicited, or without consent. The most credible contact building method is via virtual or in-person meetings, webinars or live events. If you “cold email” an agent without any prior notice or referral, very likely that agent will not respond.

Q: Online: What are the most effective ways to initially increase my agent recruitment network?

Every year hundreds of students are sent abroad and among the applicants, the senior middle school students take up 30 percent, undergraduate students take up 40 percent, master and doctor students take up 29 percent, and remainders take up 1 percent.

According to American visa laws, the visa preparation and stimulation training has been practiced with the integration of “one to one” and “several to one” forms. The preparation for visa has been based on the characteristics of the students’ languages and family backgrounds. About us

BOSSA & COSSA are China's distinctive associations for the professional practice of Chinese student recruitment. They are membership-based organizations made up of study abroad agencies, education agents, and institutions.

BOSSA, The Beijing Overseas Study Service Association, was founded in 2004 in affiliation with Chinese governmental authorities. Now BOSSA's membership consists of study abroad companies, recruitment agents, and institutional international departments, in Beijing and throughout greater China.

Initially serving Beijing-based education agencies until 2012, BOSSA launched its nationwide association known as COSSA, the China Overseas Study Service Alliance.

Its CEAC agent training program, in conjunction with ICEF and the Chinese Ministry of Human Resources, was launched in 2014. The CEAC China Education Agent Course has graduated hundreds of certified individual counselors.

BOSSA’s purpose is to train, guide, and evaluate education agencies according to both governmental policies and internationalized industry standards. BOSSA & COSSA agency members account for a significant amount of outbound Chinese student exchanges worldwide.

BOSSA's internal management is entirely operated by third party independent staff, and not agents. Every manager is of senior expertise in China international education.
